USAF T-6A Texan II at the Stillwater airport
While I was out at lunch with my daughter today we saw what I thought was an aerobatic plane with a really cool sound doing very high-banked turns and moving pretty fast. We were only a mile from the airport so we drove over in time to watch it land.
Turns out it was a T-6A "Texan II". The cool sound was from the 1100-hp turboprop. These can fly up to 31,000 feet and 320 miles per hour. And they cost (depending on who you ask) $4.3 million, $5 million, or $5.6 million each.
